Series: Rise of the Guardians
Debuted: Con-G 2013
I love the fact that I live right behind a part of frozen lake Ontario. This location was literally steps away from a back door to my apartment building! I really enjoy the fact you can almost see the wind in this picture from the blowing snow.
Huge props to my roommate who braved the slush/snow storm to snap a few pictures of me <3
Everything on the costume is made by me. Both vest and cloak/pant fabrics are varying colours of faux suede. Shirt is a quilters cotton. Shirt was drafted, and cloak and pants were modified from patterns. The paint was dry brushed with a toothbrush which had varying lenghts of bristles so I got some really cool effects that way. The paint is a mixture of a pearly white/silver, a light blue, blue glitter, and silver glitter to add dimension.
Wig also styled by me. First time really putting spikes in a wig! I hope my attempt worked out okay~ It's actually a pretty light silver even though it looks a bit darker than that here.
Staff is literally made up of braches held together by duct tape Its one huge birch branch as its base and 3 smaller pieces I cut. The base was then covered in two layers of paper mache and there's a a bunch of layers of detail painting.
Thanks for looking~
Other photos of my Colonial Jack:
Bare feet oh my god 0o0
I feel sorry for them.
i couldn't tell if it was real or not, so great job!! XD lol
haha, that's so cool and funny XD have you used the lake for any other pictures too?
Your Jack cosplay is amazing though The details like the snow and the little ruffles coated in frost at the bottom of the pants are perfect! Were you feet cold in that picture? xD
Thanks yous! I'm really glad you think so. And oh yes, ohhhh yes... I only lasted maybe 30 seconds after this shot was taken before I ran back to my boots! It was like a slushy snow too which may have made it worse ):
And you're very welcome! Jeez, I don't think I would have lasted five seconds nevermind thirty, I applaud you for your bravery against the cold! xD
Hahaha, I was determined to get some shots out of the random shoot, so I kinda held on probabaly past when I should have anyway XD Feet took quite a bit to warm up later~ Not quite an experience I'm looking forward to repeating sometime tbh it was cold -.-
holy crap. you must have been so cold! well done! really excellent ^^
But thank you so much!!!
Awww, that sucks though!! Do you live somewhere warm? It's actually been a pretty awesome year for snow around here~
Homygod, you're so courageous^^
Hahaha, yea this definitely won't be something I'll be all that keen to do again soon XD Snow storms are damn cold, not too mention it was a slushy snow which didn't help things. But I only lasted maybe 30 seconds before I went back to my boots!
so hard to do shootings in snow isn't it! But finally, we can take some beautiful photos like this one ;D
Definitely~ Anything with flash wouldn't have worked because it just highlighted the falling snow like crazy! But you end up with a few that work out thankfully like this one~
Thank you so much!!!
