Costume: God Tier Rose Lalonde, the Seer of Light Series: Homestuck
Man, I am still ridiculously happy with how this costume turned out!! The response so far has been more than I ever expected.
Main body of the dress is made of this... to be quite honest I'm not sure exactly what it is. Some sort of polyester/spandex thing. I found it in the bargain section of a fabricland and yoinked all they had left. I love the colour and how well it's been able to drape! The brighter orange is all a stretch twill. All patterns were drafted. The entire costume was hemmed using an embroidery stitch on my machine to add a little more detail to the costume.
The applique was definitely the hardest part of this costume. All fabric pieces itself I made one stencil for and cut the rest out of those to ensure they were all the same, and they were bonded to the costume with heat n'bond. Then, I hand-stitched around all the pieces with a slightly contrasting embroidery thread. I'm so happy it turned out nice and not hokey XD
I actually used a stretch fabric similar to a spandex. It was light and flowed really nicely which was a good chunk why I picked it for the costume ^^ it just draped so nicely~ mostly in these pictures it was a manner of placing it that way in the shots, but the way I cut the fabric to expand outward closer t the bottom made it stat even while standing straight the fabric draped nicely downwards! But it was definitely mostly in the fabric, as if. Used a twill or cotton or something like that I don't think it would have draped that nicely~
